People
Damian joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Warsaw in 2015. He obtained his Ph.D. at Hokkaido University in Japan in 2007. From 2007 to 2009 he was Global Center of Excelence fellow at the Department of Engineering at Hokkaido University and then Marie Curie fellow (2009-2014) at the Department of Materials Science at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany. Then he moved to the Department of Physics at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne in France before joining the University of Warsaw. His research interests lie in the field of applied electrochemistry with the focus on the synthesis of functional materials. At the University of Warsaw, he is a leader for NCN projects such as OPUS 6, OPUS 11, OPUS 20, OPUS 28, he is the coordinator for international projects EIG CONCERT JAPAN.​​
DAMIAN KOWALSKI Ph.D.


Sandra is a PhD student working in the in the field of Li-O2 batteries. She was an intern student in the group in 2022/2023 working in the NCN OPUS20 project. Sandra finished her MSc at the Department of Physics at Christ College Irinjalakkuda in 2023 and joined the group shortly thereafter.

Monika is Assistant Professor specialized in the field of Density Functional Theory (DFT). She obtained her PhD degree at ABV-Indian Institute of Information Technology & Management, Gwalior, defending thesis entitled “Computational Investigations of Nanostructured Materials as Sensors for the Carcinogenic Elements in Water and Air” in 2023. During her PhD project she was exploring one dimensional and two dimensional nanostructures for applications such as sensing devices for air and water pollutants by employing DFT theory coupled with NEGF formalism. Currently she is working on computational modeling of metal-air batteries.

MONIKA SRIVASTAVA Ph.D.

Saira is doing her intership in our group, working as a Scientific Assistant in OPUS 28 project related to the development of Li-CO2 battery. Saira is specialized in the synthesis of gold clusters and computational modeling of 2D-3D materials. She is a second-year PhD student at Faculty of Physics in Nevill Gonzalez Szwacki research group.
SAIRA PERVEEN

Leon is an exchange student from Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan. He is involved in EIG CONCERT JAPAN project between Poland-Japan-Turkey on the development of Na-CO2 battery. Leon is working on the synthesis of double perovskites and study them as catalists for effective operation of Na-CO2 battery.

Former members and visitors

Sugarthi was a visiting scientist in our group. She obtained her PhD at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chengalpattu, India. Sugarthi is specialized in the field of photocatalysis, particularly in dye-sensitized solar cells.
SUGARTHI SRINIVASAN

Mewin was an Assistant Profesor in our group specialized in the field of batteries and supercapacitors. He received his PhD degree at the University of Autonoma, in Spain defending thesis entitled “Quest for high performance Mg and Mg-Li/Na hybrid batteries” in 2021. During his PhD project he was appointed as Research Assistant at IMDEA materials institute in Madrid, Spain working with Dr. Vinodkumar Etacheri and Dr. Maciej Haranczyk.

Patrycja was a Scientific Assistant in our group working on the project „Alkaline air battery” focusing on the synthesis of nanotubular electrodes by using the tools offered by high voltage electrochemistry. She is an undergraduate student at the Faculty of Advanced Technologies and Chemistry at Military University of Technology specialized in the field of hazardous materials and protection against chemicals and chemicals weapons. She serve her duty as a soldier in military service.
PATRYCJA HENKIEL

Yuki was an exchange PhD student from Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan. He was working on the synthesis of carbon materials having graphene loop structure and he modified of those materials in order to boost oxygen evolution and oxygen reduction reactions in highly alkaline electrolytes. He is finishing his PhD at the department of Engineering at Hokkaido Universty.

Serife is a PhD student in Maricn Karbarz group. She was a short-term scholar in our group working on the project „Alkaline air battery” focusing on the synthesis of active materials for battery applications.
